Unless its my young grandson , Sam doesn't even get off his bed when the door bell goes , doesn't bark or even lift his head up Where he is concerned, its a case of " Welcome thieves , help yourself but don't disturb me " Saving grace is that Millie more than makes up for his total lack of house guarding
Nope, you are not alone. Charlie doesn't bark at the doorbell - he doesn't bark at much at all. He'll maybe give a woof if he sees a fox on his last nighttime walk, or when playing with other dogs, but that's pretty much it.
Tatze shouts 'till I investigate, Twiglet just stands and watches. Zaba has such a loud, deep WOOF that you'd think a six foot monster was in the house!
Nope you are not alone. Juno doesn't bark when someone is at the door. She sits with her tail wagging with a toy in her mouth to greet them . Last time she barked was at a doggie birthday party at the beginning of August
Two barkers here but we are still working on 'quiet'. Sometimes I think barking is a good thing especially this week as David is away. At 4.30 am Wednesday morning Charlie was going crazy barking howling, you know what I mean, I went downstairs went out in to the yard and on the ground was one single glove which is not ours so I am wondering if someone was going to try to break in and Charlie scared them off. Don't know. I find it depends on who's at the door as they do seem to know so sometimes no barking at all. xx
Riley has grown into his voice and is noisier now than he's ever been. He was almost entirely silent for the first two years. He barks at the door and sometimes at people outside if he thinks they're too close. He only gives a couple of woof but sometimes they make us jump out of our skins!!!!
Simba doesn't bark at doorbells, but he does tend to bark at strange noises outside. Which doesn't happen often. I always go and see what he is barking at (generally just one or two barks, but he'll be at the front door, looking outside). Often I can't see anything but sometimes it's a person or a car or something pulled up outside. So it's just about exactly how I would want him to react.
Holly gives a few barks if anyone comes to the door. They reverberate around the hall and sound very impressive. Most of the time she is listening intently, probably to see if she can pick up the sound of rustling biscuit wrappers.
Mine barks at the slightest noise outside, my younger one didn't bark but he is now starting to copy number one. I would love a 'barkless' dog! Not that he is barking all the time I hasten to add.
Good work Charlie! Lilly has barked at more as she has got older. And more often if we are in, we think.
Bella runs to the door in excitement if she hears a car pull up or doorbell rings, if it's a familiar person she jumps and presents them with her toys , if it's not, it's a bow and a mad bark for a few minutes .....
two terrible barkers here - very much work in progress - but feel I'm fighting a losing battle. Massive barks. My doorbell. Different bells on the radio or telly. Knocks anywhere. Doors banging. oh help! I'm getting wound up thinking of it!
Harley barks at the door no matter who it is. As soon as I open the door she usually stops barking and greets them with her ball . We have been working on quiet and getting there very very slowly
Big deep loud barker here...but we have a routine for callers .,Dexter automatically runs to his room when the bell rings....I give him a treat,tell him 'quiet' shut the gate and go and answer the door .'Quiet' ends when he hears voices.....he's 3 now and I'm just about getting him to stay in his room without having to Shut the gate.....not 100% yet though.......
Homer runs to the door, with an alarming bark, a good thing as our door bell stopped working three years ago. He usually hears the gate click before anyone reaches the door. Our visitors are usually welcomed by the comand "Sit!". On release he will then great with his tail wagging, a whole body wag if he likes them. If visitors are unwanted then I take hold of his Collar, and open the door just enough for his head to poke through - most get the hint. Before we got him we had quite a few door to door salesmen or charity knocking. One was perticularly aggressive so I like having the security of a loud bark. His parents were the silent type, may be due to training or their nature.
No barking at the doorbell here, but Mira does have a deep gruff bark which she reserves for 'non-existent to us' noises outside, especially at night. I do wonder if she does bark at the doorbell when we are out, but friends have never mentioned it so I assume not.
Bob only barks once if he hears a noise or a knock on the door. Although he's become more 'barky' since he was snipped. But he's not too bad. He's pretty silent most of the time. In fact when he DOES bark it makes us jump! lol
