Re: pregnant lab my bitch had puppys just under 3 weeks ago all pups are doing well but i dont think the mother is she is not eating much she has gone realy thin i dont know if this is normal its the 1st litter she has had or is it the pups are sucking her dry
Re: pregnant lab I have a bitch here with a litter of the same age. You must get her eating and drinking. What have you tried? My bitch (with 9 pups) is on 5 meals a day of Nature's Diet and Skinners Puppy Food plus after every feed she is having Nutrolac a type of powdered goats milk. Food and fluids are essential both to keep your bitch healthy and to provide enough milk for pups of that age. I also add glucose powder to the Nutrolac. Basically anything goes in the food department - if she will eat chicken then that's what she must have. Jill
Re: pregnant lab Hi Dogwalker I have seen bitches get thinner while feeding pups - but that's despite eating bucket loads. They need those extra calories. If it were me I would try tempting her with some other foods (suitable ones only of course!) and get her to the vet if she doesn't perk up. Better safe than sorry. Good luck Sam
