Pupster is just past 6 months can anyone tell me if some of his adult teeth are still coming through . He's back to chewing again , other than the I'm bored so I'll chew the door kind of chewing which is different ;-) Just seems he needs stuff to chew on all the time again so curious to know if he's not finished with teeth coming in yet
I have a six month old pup too and I hear that his chewing has incresed as well. Will love to hear reply from experienced owners.
Hi there , Dexter only came to us at 5 months...from memory his larger teeth weren't fully through until 7 months....I'd see blood on his soft toys.....those where the days when I still have him soft toys to help...they never lasted more than half an hour though!
Rorys came through at about 7 months too. He lost a few on toys and some I just pulled out because they were just hanging on his gums. You do find a few but I think the must swallow most. Check in his mouth he might just be getting sore and teeth can be moving and getting ready to come through. I remember Rorys gums looking a lot pinker just before tooth loss started. Rory started to get chewy around this time so I knew his big teeth were on the way. Its defiantley a more feverish kind of chewing. When the teeth come through you may find some but mostly its just blood on their toys and feverish chewing. My OH also said that Rory smelt different. I think it was the blood.
My two both had breath that smelled of iron while they were teething. Bleuch. Teething seemed to last an age, although I was lucky that mine didn't become complete chew-monsters. I gave them lots of frozen kongs, frozen carrots, ice cubes etc to sooth them. Some people also like to soak and freeze a knotted tea towel for them to chew.
Ripple spat another tooth out at training classes last week, I used that as an excuse for his awful behaviour there . He's not quite 7 months and definitely chewing like mad, luckily his nylabones take the brunt of it but we do have an interesting set of shapes chewed into our dining room table and chairs.
It's a relief to hear that it is likely teeth and interesting about the breath smell as I've caught a wiff and thought jeezo have you got something dead in there but it is a sweet iron like smell. Certainly not finding blood so I wonder if all the baby ones have gone as I know they have fewer baby teeth and extra adult teeth come through which could be what we're getting now. He's an absolute maniac just now into the bargain. Ants in pants , rocket up bum and can't engage brain at all but that's perhaps another topic!
