    Ha ha Julie...Charlie the Sultan....

I'm a no-dog-in-the-bed gal, myself (ducks the rotten tomatoes flying my way). However Simba has a comfy bed right beside ours where he curls up happily every night.

We're a "cuddles on the bed sometimes" family. The OH was in bed when I got up and left early this morning so I let Ella out. He sent me this photo just so I knew that she made herself at home on my side of the bed...

Ah I've loved reading through this....deviated a little bit from your original post of NOT sleeping on the bed though hasn't it Frankie!
Long time members will know I was the biggest meanie in the world about Dexter being on the couch or the bed.....then A few different circumstances and me thinking what the heck ? And he conquered!
Best thing ever....he sleeps in the middle of us now ,head on the pillow ,spooning into me!
I have to say though, even after 18 months of coming up every night,he still stands and hovers uncertainly between his room downstairs and the route to the stairs until we tell him he can come with us.....and he waits by the side of the bed until he's told he can get on......

Sadly i have medical equipement that helps me to keep breathing when I sleep so I don't let the dogs upstairs they would love the tubing and eat some of it. also i have to keep a lot of dangerous drugs in the house so I have all that kind of stuff upstairs locked away. It safest that way and gives me peace of mind knowing there is nothing downstairs that can kill them. I do however sleep with my dogs downstairs I really find it comforting. If I am having a really bad night I will go and sleep downstairs or anywhere i can as I don't want to disturb my OH
I was told so many things about don't let dogs on furniture beds etc, but in the end like you i just did what seemed to make everyone happy. My dogs are so chilled and relaxed and so am I. I think the closeness really helps build a good bond with them. We do most things together. The best thing to do is just do what makes you and your dogs happy if it works for you why worry
