When we had our last little rescue terrier Flynn , Sam was in heaven having a friend to play with, nothing really manic but the odd garden romp and sharing of toys .
When we lost little Flynn to seizures last October, it was like a light went out for Sam , he still took all his toys out into the garden and would lay out there as though waiting for a playmate to come and join him, he truly did grieve . Sam has always been quite a solemn dog but he became even more serious, until we got Miss Millie three weeks ago ;D
He still enjoys him one on one with me training but he is absolutely in heaven having his little friend here to play with, its really lifted his spirits and its grand to see him behaving like a young dog again rather than an old dog , she is being a tonic x

She's brought a lot of smiles to everyone in your house and a lot of smiles to me too!hate to think of Sam sad....it's so awful for the humans when a dog is lost but I always wonder what actually goes on in a dogs mind when they lose their companion.....there's no way of making them understand, given me stones in my tummy just thinking about it :( Millie is a special little dog....how is she doing with her phantom?

When you saved Millie, she saved you all right back! How lovely. I agree that dogs do grieve. How lovely for Sam he gets to love over again, how sweet. x

Ah, Millie is tops all round - a good turn to a dog needing a home seems to have brought so many good things to your family - that's lovely. :)
