We are new to Labradors and without been morbid are just wondering how long labs live for and do females tend to out live males?
From a Labrador you could reasonably expect round about 12 years. My first Labrador lived to 14 and I feel lucky I had him so long. No, don't think that one sex lives longer than the other, as far as I know, if you just look at health related things (as opposed to accidents like escaping and running off into traffic, which entire males in general are slightly more likely to do). The lifespan thing is a good question I think, and important to consider when looking at different breeds. Some breeds typically live much shorter lives (eg Irish Wolfhounds have a 6-8 year life expectancy which would totally rule them out for me).
