Hello, I have a 3 month female lab that started presenting excessive drinking (something close to 800ml in 12 hours) and urinating..She just made it thruparvovirus like a month ago..we took urine and blood samples for a whole analysis..Here are some of the values I´ve read are more critical: 1) Alcaline Phosphate - 684.0 U/L 2) Alanine Trans - 41.9 U/L 3) Aspartate Amino - 47.0 U/L 4) Total Bilirrubin - 0.23 mg/dl 5) Albumin - 2.0 g/dl 6) Total Protein - 3.81 g/dl 7) Gama GT - 22.0 U/L 8) Lymphocytes - 40% 1) BUN (Urea Nitrogen) - 10.35 mg/dl 2) Urea - 22.1 mg/dl 3) Creatinine - 0.37 mg/dl 4) Glucose - 108 mg/dl 5) Calcium - 10.0 mg/dl 6) Phosphorus - 7.7 mg/dl 7) Amylase - 1057.0 U/L 8) PH - 5.0 9) Density - 1.020 One vet told us she might be suffering from Cushing´s or Adison disease, he wanted to try giving her small dosis of cortizone to see how she reacts (which personally didn´t agree); same reason I decided to get a second opinion. The other vet he said most of these signs might be related to our dog recovering from a so agressive disease as parvo and she might have regular puppy "incontinence"...Anyway excessive urinating and drinking is still present..could it be a psycogenic thing? Hope you´ve heard something similar or have any other idea...
Hello there, and a very warm welcome. Where do you live? We would love to hear more about you and your dog. What is her name? I'm sorry, I don't know enough to interpret the blood results you quote. My dog was suspected as having Adison disease at one point, but my vet was able to rule it out from the blood results. The most important thing, I think, is that you seek advice from a properly qualified vet - a specialist if that is required - and follow the advice you get. I'm sorry to say that I think seeking commentary on the internet of blood results isn't likely to be helpful to you.
Hello Julie, I live in Mexico, my lab's name is "Canela" which means cinnamon in english. I understand what you are saying about getting help from an specialist but to be honest it's hard to get a vet specialist here in Mexico, it's very common to find general vets but as it happened to me, they usually have encountered diagnoses that's why I decided to try a forum
Hi Cocoa. Welcome to the forum. Sorry you are having problems with your girl. None of us this forum have the expertise to help with diagnoses and it would be irresponsible of us to hazard a guess and lead you to take inappropriate action. You really do have to get expert advice here. Find the most trustworthy vet you can and go with their advice.....They are going to know far more than any of us. I hope Canela improves soon.
