We have crate trained our Sheprador puppy, she's only 8 months, but is in the biggest crate available. We want to go away for a weekend away to start with, however our car will not fit her cage. I have discovered that there are places that will hire you a crate.
Has anyone used on of these cottages, and can anyone recommend somewhere in Derbyshire, that is family and dog friendly?

Hi there, I have been known to trawl cottages for let sites looking for the ideal cottage to suit the whole family :rolleyes::rolleyes:
I think I have only seen the odd mention of owners who provide crates though.
Might be worth asking at a property you are interested in. The owners may know of somewhere that could rent or loan one.
I assume a holiday WITHOUT a crate would not work well

I have a fold down travel crate for Charlie, made by a company called Maelson.

The foldable, canvas crates that Julie suggested are really good for trips away, where you're just popping your dog in at nighttime. You wouldn't want to be leaving your Lab unattended in it if she's awake and restless, since any Lab could chew their way out in pretty short time, but it should be perfect if all you want is to keep your dog off the bed at night ... which I wouldn't blame you for, having endured sleepless nights with my two sharing hotel beds. Or, rather, not sharing at all. Pushing us out and claiming it for themselves would be more accurate! :D

Well, it depends on how well the dog is crate trained, it does have to be very strong, that's for sure. Charlie's crate training is good enough that I have and do leave him alone in a fabric crate for a couple of hours or so - because the chances of him chewing or trying to get out of it is close to zero.

Thankyou, she is well crate trained, it's her bed, her safe place! I have seen some places, east Ruston cottages are a very dog friendly place, provide crates, bowls, holiday cottages etc!
For our first time away with her, we wanted to make sure we had everything covered!
