I noticed that Sam was limping slightly this morning on his front left leg , so worrier that I am , I took him to the Vets . He is now on short walks and Metacam for a few days , probably a strain or pulled muscle , no wonder really as he crashes around like a tank when retrieving . One thing though, it hasn't put him off his food ;)

Get well soon Sam, nothing wrong with being a worrier especially where limps are concerned..

Totally agree with Pilatelover . You can not be too cautious with limps. Hope Sam is back to his normal crashing around very soon.

Pleased to read that it is nothing serious; you are like me, we worry, so down to the vet for reassurance and treatment.

    Hope he's feeling better soon.

Metacam shouldn't take long to have an effect. But I guess it depends on how sore things are and in what way they are sore.

Thanks for asking Helen , I didn't take him out this morning , he just snoozed but just taken them both on grass for five/ten minutes , he did start off with a limp but it improved as he walked . This will be the order of the day for a little while , rest and metacam , but all in all, a little improvement from yesterday, cautiously optimistic :)

Thanks again for the get well wishes for Sam :) His limp is worse after rest and then gradually improves as he uses his foot until by the end of the day , the limp is hardly noticeable . He is still having what I call Corridor Walks , ones with no opportunity to charge left or right and only for a few minutes a day until I feel confident that he is all better :)

Hope Sam is fully recovered soon, restricted exercise is no fun for anyone.
