She looks very much like Molly in build, except Juno is a Choccie and Molly is a yellow.

When I took Molly to the Vets for her check up last week, he said she was just the right weight, 27.5 kilos. He also said that weight was just an indicator, it was with his eyes and hands that he judged wether a dog was the right size.

Problem is that there are so many fat labs around that even when you know in your head that you have done the best for your dog by keeping her weight down, you look at traditional more chunky labs and wonder..........

Molly is field which is why she is fairly light for a Lab. I met her mum, an incredibly rangy lab and Molly has taken after her.

    Stop worrying.

Molly the "fairly light field Lab" is only 0.5kg lighter than Obi boy show lab, and 1.5kg lighter than Charlie boy show lab...and if she were a boy, she'd most likely be heavier than both or at least the same as Charlie. :)

It's really not about lightweight field labs....it's just about slim labs. :)

She looks perfect and beautiful. You can NEVER compare weights on different scales. Coco is still a bit "ribby" (but we don't have a breed to aim for), and we always weight on the same scales, but ultimately it's not about numbers, it's figures (;)).

I have the same problem with Ella! As soon as I get down to her level she is in my face! Haha.

    Beautiful girl Juno. Those eyes

I took Tara into Kennelgate, and she weighed 30.2kg but a couple of days later, she was weighed at the vets, for her booster jabs, and weighed 32kg. It always pays to rely on the same set of scales for continuity weighing. I am lucky, as the vet is turn left from my house and Kennelgate is turn right, both about half a mile away, and both happy to weigh and keep a record.
If I could get Tara to stand still, I would post the latest picture of her - she looks much fatter than Juno.

bouncer wow that's a lot heavier than Juno and she is a big girl and comes from parents who were also big, but lean. Juno never topped 25kg on the scales.

Well we dropped in to the vets this morning for a weight check. After dripping all over the scales the weight stopped at 25.2kg. Heavier than she's ever weighed before, but I'm putting the extra down to all the water :D. So despite a tummy upset over the last few days she has gained 1.5kg in two weeks. While not convinced that the scales are accurate I know she's not looking as lean and skinny as she was so I'm going to stop worrying about her weight, well at least for now :D:D

Glad you've stopped worrying Rosemary, you know how Juno should look and feel without the dreaded scales :) Hope Juno is feeling OK after an upset tummy :( xx

charlie Thanks Helen. She's been fine in herself, just dome soft and / or runny poos over the last few days. Not sure if it's a reaction to all the sardines in her dinner but things ate looking better xx

She has ballooned after being spayed, but is from a large mother and the vet is not bothered, but the diet nurse is!!! Currently Tara is on diet food (2 tins of Chappie and small handful of dry food a day), plus all she can eat from the local park buffet (half burgers, pizzas, bird bread and anything else chucked away)!

Sounds as if you're getting lots of 'leave it' practice. Let us know how the diet goes with Tara. It so important to keep them slim
