Been up a lot in the night with Sam , it was thundering and at first I thought this was upsetting him , but it wasnt, he has a really bad tummy, poor love . We had gone to the local pub for half an hour yesterday evening, sitting outside, mainly to help socialise Millie to new places ( not that we wanted to go to the pub !) and before I could stop her, the well meaning Landlady came out and gave Sam a handful of treat type dog biscuits , he was under the table and I couldnt get them away in time . Millie only ate one but Sam had a fair lot , and oh dear, poor love had awful tummy ache and resulting poo in the night . I know people mean well, but I do wish they wouldnt feed my dogs without asking, he feels very sorry for himself this morning
Re: Sam not well this morning Oh dear Kate, poor old Sam, hope he is feeling better soon. What do people think?? It wouldn't be ok to give someone's children sweets without permission - why do they think it's ok with dogs???
Re: Sam not well this morning Poor Sam ,he'll feel rotten, hope the storm has freshened the day up so its not too hot for him and everyone else's doggies today.People are just being kind but they should ask first,I would never give somebody else's dog something to eat without permission just like I wouldn't give someone else's child something without permission.Sam is so handsome and good he will have drawn her attention and she's wanted to treat him. I had a smile at you saying he was under the table so you couldn't get the biscuits away quick enough....blimey Kate if Dexter is at my feet I wouldn't be able to get them away quick enough,he would have been inhaling as the lady walked towards him !you've had lots of dogs so you'll know what to do but Dex's upset tums from food pass in 24 hours max......just need a bit more equipment to clean up when I head out on a walk with him get we'll soon Sam x
Re: Sam not well this morning He would usually be asking for his walk by now, but not interested at all, bless him . I once just stopped someone in time from giving him a quite large piece of chocolate Millie is fine, seems to have the consitution of an Ox, but you know what Labs are like, eat it and suffer later x
Re: Sam not well this morning
you know what Labs are like, eat it and suffer later x
Never was a truer word said.... So sorry to hear that Sam is under the weather this morning, poor man I'm sure you are very annoyed about those dodgy biscuits. I hope that it passes quickly and that he's back to being himself tomorrow. Give his ears a stroke from us all.
Re: Sam not well this morning awh poor lovely sam .....i feel for you,.....i am happy you have not got 2 poorly dogs
Re: Sam not well this morning Oh dear, I hope he is feeling better soon. I hate it when people give my dogs treats, especially Ziggy. He has a wheat intolerance and dog biscuits don't agree at all with him.
Re: Sam not well this morning I think this is what it is with Sam Heidrun . We thought he was developing a wheat problem so switched his food to a rice and salmon one and he has been fine on this, the biscuits were bright coloured what based things , he ate about six before I could get under the table and snatch the rest away , I do so wish people would ask first :
Re: Sam not well this morning poor Sam. i hope hes starting to feel a bit better bless him. i dont like folk feeding my two either. someone was feeding cuillin grapes from their pinic the other day. thankfully shes a bit firky about some stuff and didnt eat them...explained politely to the folk that you shouldnt really give dogs grapes and they just lsughed and said och dogs can eat anything....sigh...
Re: Sam not well this morning Pleased to report that the big lad is much better and has somehow managed to eat a small tea ;D
Re: Sam not well this morning Kate, so glad to hear that Sam is better. Debsie, I have learnt a new word today - firky - love it! ;D
Re: Sam not well this morning Hey Kate! Sorry to hear all that, but glad all settling down now. It is so annoying when that happens. We have real issues with Lady being a complete pest when we are out and wanting a quiet drink or snack in a pub and just when we are making some progress with her the well meaning but misguided just waft up and feed her a tit-bit. Straight back to square one. I think we'll get a big notice put on the table saying "Please do not feed the dog or make a fuss of her".
Re: Sam not well this morning Thank you both x Heidrun , I hadnt heard the word Firky before either, its brilliant ;D ;D Like the idea of a sign David , people think they are being kind, but its so blinkin annoying when your dog is nice and settled and someone decides to disturb them with a fuss or food :
Re: Sam not well this morning Hi Kate, poor Sam, hope his tummy has settled now. Lots of love Helen xx
