This may not be the correct category, but my 6 yr old lab which has lived with my family for four months only cannot eat enough poop. And I have noticed that she has had some mildly loose stool, pudding consistence. I have changed her diet, maybe too zealously. She is on all heartguard and flea/tic med. What should I do. I recently switched her to the food, "Victor" which I found with good reviews on Chewy.com. What should I do? Please send me where I can look for an answer if this is the wrong forum
Hello there @Susan Jereb - and a very warm welcome to the forum. Do pop over to introductions and say Hi and tell us more about your lovely dog. I have moved your post to a new thread because this way you will get more replies that are relevant to your question (rather than your post being in a thread about Joy's Molly eating a bookmark). Here is an article on Labradors eating poo that might help: http://www.thelabradorsite.com/why-dogs-eat-poop-and-what-you-can-do-about-it/ I'm sure others will be along with more suggestions soon.
Hi there, and sorry you are having this problem. I'm not able to help you with it as, although my lab will eat just about everything and anything else he might find while we are out and about, he just sniffs at poo, thankfully. Although I did catch him trying a bit of a nibble of deer poo the other day....anyhow there are others on here that have had this problem with their dogs so I know you will get some ideas. That article Julie linked to is a good one, too.
Hi and welcome to the forum. Poo eating is so common but usually found in younger dogs. I suspect it has something to do with only having been with you for 4 months. The best way of dealing with it is by training a good "Leave" cue and using it every time your dog approaches something you don't want them to touch and treat when they do leave - preferably ignore if you don't succeed. It isn't necessarily a short lived problem but with consistency you will get there. My girl, Juno, loved eating poo be it rabbit, dog, cow or horse she really didn't mind but we have got there and now the most she might do is give a passing sniff and walk on. If you have recently changed her food that could be affecting her tummy while she adapts to the change or due to the poo eating. Either way I would stay with the current food and not change it. Apart from that make sure is wormed at the recommended intervals to ensure that she stays healthy. Tell us more about your girl and we would love to see some photos
