Hi, I pick up my lab puppy on Saturday. As I have no car I will be using a bus to return home with him which could be a longish journey as I live in rural Dumfries and Galloway. I am not sure what size of pet carrier I need, I have considered a cardboard one as he will outgrow a rigid one in weeks and would really appreciate some guidance regarding size.

Hi and welcome to the forum. It's so exciting getting ready to collect your puppy. I would advise against a cardboard carrier is a puppy can be heavier than you expect and for travelling on public transport I think something stronger will give you more confidence particularly if he puppy isn't happy in the carrier. Have you thought of one the plastic cat carriers? You could get a medium size one which will also enable you to transport your puppy to the vet easily as well.

What's your puppy's name? What colour is he? We would to see some photos of him :)

Thanks for the reply, I did wonder if the saggy nature of cardboard would be a bit unsettling for the pup. If a medium sized plastic one will do the job then I will look at that size.

His name will be Thurston Harris but he will think he is called Harry and is a golden lab.
