Hello guys here is an interesting thing Cooper had been doin whenever guests come he doesn't jump but takes a ball in his mouth wags his tail nd keeps circling them till they take their seats is this normal nd friendly behaviour his biting has reduced thou he does it wen too excited he jus loves water wen he finds water he goes nd gets laid or sleeps nd onemore thinghe ain't weeing on the street wen I take him for walk wat to do pls help

He is pleased to see your guests and his natural reaction is to 'retrieve' something and carry it around in his mouth, it's a good thing!. Glad to hear the biting and nipping is getting less! Yes, labradors do love water, try to make sure he can get to water as much as possible. Re weeing on the street - most dogs dont like to do that (male dogs will 'mark' when they are older and lift their leg), and prefer to wee on grass or earth. See if you can find somewhere he likes better, like a patch of grass or a park or something.

Re: Greeting guests Hi Teena. It sounds as though Cooper is going well He is definitely greeting visitors in a friendly way. It's a very typical thing for a Labrador to do, to wag wag wag and grab something to hold in their mouth when their family gets home or visitors arrive
Re: Greeting guests Thank u so much Evry1 d oly thing I'm worried his abt him weeing wen I take him for a walk he won't pee even wen der is grass around but come inside nd pees wer I have trained him to do so is der any other way to stop it nd please help me as to how do I show myself as a pack leader so tat Cooper doesn't dominate me I'll post a photo of him soon as he turned 4 months tdy nd ryt not he is unwell is stools r showing sparse drops of blood I'm so worried I think it may be due to worms as much as Cooper loves to play in water unfortunately he doesn't drink much though it's available for him he jus SFflips d bowl nd gets laid
Re: Greeting guests Just keep taking him out and about and encouraging him to do his toilet, he'll get there eventually. Dont worry, you dont have to be the pack leader - he is not trying to dominate you. Just stick with what you have learned so far - be firm but kind with him, he is learning and if you keep on as you have been he will grow up to be a lovely, obedient pet. Regarding the blood in his stools - I would talk to the vet. And regarding his water - just always make sure he has lots of water available. Perhaps two bowls - a big one to play in/tip over, and a dog bowl that he cant tip up? Also, have you seen the thread about dog paddling pools? Lots of people on here have got children's paddling pools for their labradors - might be nice for Cooper in the heat!
Re: Greeting guests Yes karen I'm planning to get a paddling pool for Cooper but my Mom tells it's not gud for him to be in d water forever nd d climate here is unpredictable he ain't lirstening to my commands it's so hard for me to control him
Re: Greeting guests Well, your mother's right, he shouldnt be in the water forever... but he will love being able to play in it once a day! I know it's difficult with a dog of his age. But if you read some of the posts in the puppy section on here, you will see that everyone has the same sort of problems as you. Just stick with it - you will get there. Just remember, firm but kind. You wait and see - he's going to be a great dog. The main thing to keep in mind is that the amount of effort you put in with him now, while he is so young, will directly affect what kind of dog he is later. If you spend a lot of time playing with him and teaching him things, he will be a lovely dog. If you dont spend time teaching him, exercising him and playing with him, he will be wild and unmanageable. But I am sure you will do the right things, as you care about him so much.

You said in your post that Cooper only pees indoors where you trained him to - that us a clue, I think. You perhaps need to train him to go outdoors rather than indoors? He sounds like a happy puppy, with some of that bothersome behaviour starting to diminish. You are doing well, keep it up!!!
Re: Greeting guests hey karen Lisa Angela Oberon hope u all liked d recent photos of Cooper nd love him I think I'm doing ok wid him thank u all for ur support nd advice I feel Cooper has become kinda wild bcoz if I try to correct him or try to lift nd hold him he runs away nd hides under d bed or sofa but he loves us nd is scared of us I think he barks so badly I can't understand y he does tat I jus try to talk or correct him but he barks even to be let inside while we eat why does he want to run away from us he doesn't want to listen nd obey once he but me so hard tat I was bleeding but neva tld anyone at home this is wat I was going they for d past 4 months is this normal nd yesterday wen we went to cover our car he started to whine bcoz he could he us thru d gate so lovely it was is it important tat he should poop once he eats he urinates but for d past two days he neva pooped please help my neighbor ties up his pup nd hits him wid a stick but d pup listens nd walks wid him widout d leash unlike mine
Re: Greeting guests Lots of questions there, Teena! I'll try to answer them as best I can one by one. He doesn't look wild in your photos - he looks calm and gentle. Some dogs are more nervous than others - my dog hates it if people bend down and stare in her face, it makes her bark! I don't know why you say he is scared of your family, unless he has been treated harshly. But you say he loves you, and wants to be with you, so that is a good sign. Regarding the barking - if you want him to be quiet outside while you are eating, then you are going to have to train him that only by being good and quiet does he get what he wants. Or you may find it easier to let him in the house while you eat. My dog is allowed in the room while we eat, but she has to stay on her dog bed and not come near the table. Did you read the new article on this website about puppy biting? It says that even drawing blood is normal (though upsetting for you, I understand). Regarding the poop - if he hasn't pooped for over two days you should contact a vet. That's very sad about your neighbour tying up his pup and hitting it with a stick. I'm sure you don't think that is the way to train your lovely Cooper. I do think you are doing very well. Cooper looks beautiful and healthy. Keep up the good work!
