We have had Poppy since last October. Its not been easy and sometimes I wondered if I have done the right thing.

She came to us with no manners and No RECALL whats so ever. We have not been able to even let her off the lead in the garden she just runs off. It was breaking my heart. I have read though pippa's book So many times its embarrassing. But my girl just wasn't getting it. But Last weekend I cracked it, & she had a light bulb moment and started to come back on Sunday. I was able to let go of the long lead in the garden and she came back. I paid her big time and straight away let her go again then when she looked at me and started to come towards me I Whistled her again she ran to me, I almost cried. Its been a long time coming and I know that we have a long way to go. But at last we are moving in the right direction.

Ps I would just like to say that this site is amazing! You all offer great support and the knowledge you all share is so valuable. So thanks from Me and Poppy

So pleased and happy for you and Poppy. Well done for not giving up when the going got tough and persevering with Poppy. Here's hoping that it's not long before you can start enjoying some off lead time on walks as well. :D

@MaccieD I can't wait. She watches onyx ( He has fab recall) But she won't come back with him. I did read that younger dogs learn from older ones. But I am not so sure.

I think younger dogs can learn from older dogs, unfortunately that can be good or bad. Poppy has already made huge progress just by starting to recall in the garden and I think sometimes if they are with another dog, or dogs, with good recall it can encourage them to return as well. I know when we used to be on our training dog walks, sometimes with 7 or 8 dogs, if one dog was recalled we used to get the entire group.
