Charlie's name is pretty much irrelevant in training - I only have one dog, so his cues are his cues. I often (through habit) add his name in front of the cues, but I never train them like that. His name is vaguely an attention getting noise, but I have a properly trained attention getting noise, so...

I even don't send him for a retrieve on his normal name, but on his pedigree name. So, I could honestly have as many names as I like for my dog, and it wouldn't make any difference or confuse him.

A not really a retriever trainer said "when you change your fetch cue, use your dog's pedigree name, then you can tell those daft retriever people you send your dog on his name".

Charlie's pedigree name is Tintagel. I use TinTin, although considered Snowy! :)

I send my dogs for marked retrieves on their names. One day I aspire to take them shooting together......you never know it might happen !!!! :cwl::cwl::cwl:

Bracken is normally Brack or Brackie unless I need his attention when it's his full name, Lucan is sometimes called Lukie wookie.

I'm loving this thread as the 'how many names thread ' is one of my all time faves...not just the names, the daft songs we do .....
Dexter is currently ,in the words of the Ramonn song ....A Super Boy (the song of course says Girl) and Super boys ( the song of course says girl ) just fly .....
Yep when he does a poo he's a 'super boy' and I have a little sing to him ....quietly in public!xxxx

I don't know if people remember @debsie 's song - something like "you're big and strong, and your tail is very long!". It was from a thread ages ago! I sing that to Charlie when we're playing tug.

    Snowy!! Snort!!

I would say I use "leave it" far more often than "Simba" when I am addressing my dog :wasntme: . Other names include Timba, Timbers, Pups, Timb-a-loo....

Hah, hah - I could still change it to Snowy! The new fetch cue is still used in very select circumstances (ie when it's 100% sure he'll bring it straight back)! Snowy...mmmmmm

Oh, the songs! I haven't progressed much, sadly. The tune is always the same, I just vary the words. We like to dance around the kitchen sometimes, especially to Dance With Me Tonight by Olly Murs :)

I sing a song to Rory which I can't repeat as it rude but my neighbours laugh their heads off when they hear me sing my voice is bad and its silly.

Some small boys leaving scholl sing a song about Rorys ball to something about them being big bouncy and pink? I don't know the youth of today
