    Just had a real panic.

Whilst having a coffee, reading the forum threads before I pop upstairs and get on with some work. Glance at the crate...no puppy.

OK...look around..no puppy. Slightly anxious at this stage. Check kitchen, nope, outside nope. Bramble can't get upstairs anyhow. Really a bit panicky now.

Back in the front room, and there she is...asleep on the sofa. She was there next to me the whole time! I think hubby had popped puppy in crate, he uses the middle door, and the end was wide open. I use the end door. So several times puppy just wanders back out again! I am not used to such a quiet "normal" pup. Benson at 17 weeks would have created havoc if left out, you really couldn't miss him.

I am not fooled though, looking at this gorgeous, peaceful pup. She is just biding her time of that I have no doubt! :):doug:

I had panic phone calls from our dog sitter once. My parents were staying but planned to go out for the day. So the dog sitter was to pick him up as usual. She arrives, no one home and no puppy in the crate. She rang me and left a message, and then another message. She thought my dad might have taken him out for a walk so she waited in the house for a while, then left. After ringing both the dog sitter and my dad happily out and about in London who said Homer was fast asleep on the sofa so left him there. By lunch time I got in touch with a friend who works close by and has access to where we have a spare key. There he was still curled up in the corner of the sofa!

    Bless her!!!!!

We got back to the place we were staying on holiday last week to find Obi had broken out of his crate and was wandering round and Riley nowhere to be seen!

Found him in our bedroom, the door had shut behind him and he'd been trapped! His little face peering at me did make me laugh though.

Hmmmm that doesn't happen on its own! Sounds like shenanigans going on between them whilst the Hoomans were out!

Heart stopping stuff! Tyne is permanently glued to my feet at the mo but she can sneak through the tiniest door gap when I don't want her to!

Puppies should come with defibrilators for all the heart stopping moments they cause us.

One time I lost Oban I'm convinced he enjoyed watching my mounting panic. It was evening and we were off leash in a field and he just disappeared. I pivoted where I stood, looking off across the field in all directions. Again. No puppy. Third time the charm, there he was, under some big ferns, just standing and watching me. Maybe five feet away. Dirty, rotten, stinkin little devil. :)

When Ginger had only been with us about a month (She was about 4 then) we were up at our cabin, and realized we could not find her. We had not let her out, but we could not find her anywhere. We began to wonder if she had crawled under a railing a jumped off a deck, so we looked frantically around the neighborhood for her. After about 1/2 someone looked in the garage, which was one half of the basement, and there she was sitting quietly behind the door waiting for someone to open it. In the US connecting doors between the house and garage must be 1 hr fire rated, and have spring closure. It wasn't latched, and she pushed it open, walked into the garage and the door closed. Ginger was unusual in that she would almost never bark to go somewhere, or be let in. The door is now referred to as the "Dog Trap" and it is very common to get one of the dogs caught in the Garage. The difference is that Tilly, Cooper and our friends dogs are quiet vociferous about being let back in the house.

Two years ago we were working outside at the cabin, and realized that Tilly was not around. She had been staying pretty close to us and all the sudden she was no where to be seen. We searched the house, and the neighborhood without success. I even went out to the highway and looked, afraid of what I might find. Finally someone looked inside our Van and there she was. She had jumped in and gone to sleep. Without noticing her, someone had closed the door, to turn off the interior lights. We were lucky with that one, because it was a warm day, but the van was in enough shade that it only got a little warm inside. It was a wake up call. It gets hot enough here that lot attendants, passers-by or police will break out the windows of a car if they see a dog locked in a car in the summer.

mine have learnt that they can stand to the side of me and I can't see them because of a visual problem. When it first happened and i could barely see at all and they exploited this to the max. As it improved they learnt the blind spot area and would hide in it. They think its funny
