Hi just wondering about a few things that are probably obvious. First thing in the morning should I feed Molly first or let her out for toilet? She's decided she likes sleeping in the cats bed or the sofa. Should I always put her in her bed to sleep? Is it OK to put her in her pen when she's not sleeping? I'm having trouble with the constant watching and worrying what she might be chewing. Thanks
Yes, of course you can put her in her pen for a bit when you can't watch her - dogs need company, but they also need to be able to settle down alone for a bit. So don't leave her in her pen alone for ages, but it's completely fine for a bit. The other two is just up to you. If she doesn't need to pee or poo immediately, you can let her out after breakfast, it doesn't matter. You can have her sleep wherever you want, so long as it's safe and she won't get into mischief chewing stuff etc.
I would go pee/poo first then breakfast while she's little, in case of accidents. When older it doesn't matter. Twiglet (11 months) has wee, breafast, poo. Tatze (3 years) has poo, wee, breakfast .
Juno's morning routine is meet and greet with a toy, out to the garden for pee and poo and then a dash back indoors to sit and wait in her bed for breakfast to be served. Even when we are up at silly o'clock for OH to head off for a business meeting it's still the same routine, Juno just has a longer wait in her bed for breakfast At night Juno always goes to her bed, but during the day she snoozes wherever we happen to be although the cats bed was popular when she was little. Sofa sleeping has never been allowed. It's up to you whether you put her to bed or not, just think ahead as to whether it's what you want your fully grown dog to be doing in 12 to 18 months time . Time alone in a pen is absolutely fine and all dogs have to learn how to settle and be alone for a time.
Jake goes out for a massive wee then usually has a poo. Back indoors for breakfast and straight out after eating for another wee. However he is 12 weeks tomorrow so dropping to 3 meals and I'm not sure what times we will pick. Jake gets put into his crate if I need to load/unload the dishwasher as he tries to climb in it, and if I just need 20 mins peace to have a coffee Jake likes sleeping next to us on the sofa or on the floor - on 'his' green blanket, but will sleep in his crate too now we have taken the dividers out.
Thanks, there's so many things to think about! It's funny there are 2 cat beds but she only ever sleeps in one. Cats are a bit put out
