So, in the mornings, I get up, feed the dogs, let them in the garden for morning toilette, then have my breakfast and then walk the dogs. Unfortunately, Jackie has started badgering me loudly while I have my breakfast, whining and chatting, jumping and snout-pushing. I never share my breakfast with the dogs. I've tried having the door closed between me and the dogs while I eat, but that just makes Jackie whine louder. It is only a problem in the mornings, as he doesn't do it any other time. Any ideas?
How about training Jackie to lie quietly on a mat? And in the meantime, in a crate with a kong while you eat breakfast in peace would seem like a good idea!
You could look to change your routine a little in the morning, perhaps walk the dogs and then they have breakfast while you have yours. Nothing quite like a walk to work up an appetite for us or the dogs
I'm really not a morning person, I'm not sure I'd be able to safely walk two large excited dogs before having my morning coffee. I can give it a try, I suppose, at least until Jackie learns the mat.
Enjoy your coffee while they do their morning toilet, then walk and breakfast. Training the mat resting is probably better when you're not trying to have breakfast
