I'm having trouble with the feet on the floor rule while playing with Molly. She always brings her toys and lies on me to chew them and it's just so cute that don't want to take her off! Please remind me why I need to do this and how :)

Can't see your problem :D:D, play is play. I always have a play session on the floor with Juno where we play hide and seek, tug, fetch, climb all over me and lick me :D:D and lie down together on the floor to relax - and I wouldn't change our play sessions and neither would Juno (well at least I think she wouldn't apart from perhaps some more licking). Our play has always been on the floor and she's not allowed on the furniture, no problem for us though

LOL, what a surprise for me to see as your title exactly the words I use. I say FEET and sometimes follow through with what it means, on the floor. :)

However in the situation you describe I don't see the problem. Obviously YOu are down on the floor too, making you fair game for puppy, I think. And I love when they do that, play with their toys beside or right on top of me. I don't think they realize it but when they do that it's a sure fire way to get me to stay and play longer, I can't bear to make them move. :)

As long as you'll be OK with her doing that when she's full size (which I am ;) ) then I wouldn't worry about it during play. Best thing is to have a think about what you want from her and train with that in mind. Both my dogs come on the sofa for a cuddle but they don't come upstairs to bed for example :)

Thanks, I'd been worried I was doing something wrong letting her play on me but maybe being a bit paranoid!

For me, I think the four feet on the floor is more about when they are jumping up at you or visitors.
If I'm on the floor and Dexter wants to play, then I'm happy with him climbing over me, licking me or playing with/chewing a toy.

I think playtime on the floor is one of the best parts of the day, it always make me laugh when Juno dashes off to get a toy, as I go to sit on the floor (which can be difficult when the old knees are particularly dodgy :)). I think it also helps them to learn when you are happy to play and when you are not available (ie.sitting on the sofa relaxing).

Bailey and I have a big cuddle session on the sofa when we get up, then he goes in the garden, when he comes in he has his "mad dog" five minutes with me on the floor (chew toys in easy reach!). After about 20 mins of this play we sit on the sofa together and he settles for his first nap cuddled up to me. I am lucky that my work is flexible so that allows me time with him first thing in the morning. We do the same at night about an hour or so before bedtime. These are the times I love best.
