From our very amateurish identification skills, they are red-legged partridge

We have robins as regular visitors, not been able to get photos as yet, but they like to sit on the pole in the first photo, Their colouring does seem to change with the season. The boys have been much redder on the breast recently, much the same as reddening effect with chickens and pheasants as spring arrives :)

Our woodpecker is almost as green as your parrot ;)

My favourite was probably a dusk walk with Riley where an owl flew down the lane under the trees in front of us. Magical!

Apart from the woodpecker our most exciting visitor was probably a hedgehog :D

Nb we do get Robins too!

Now I'm jealous - we've heard an owl but have yet to see it :(, although in France we did have a pair teaching their owlets how to fly and hunt in the dusk and using our garden as their flight path and the hedges as landing stages :). We used to stand by the patio doors waiting for them to arrive, shame that the owlets grew up really.

Oh what a beautiful bird, you are so lucky Rachel to be able to see such wonderful wildlife.

I am lucky enough to often see in daylight an Owl that sits in a tree down a lonely track I walk on, it flys out and swoops down the track infront of us, it really is a stunning sight with those large wings. We see lots of Red Kites too :) x

Such gorgeous birds. Australians are so lucky to have all the parrots and cockatoos flying around. I studied abroad in Australia years ago and I was shocked at the birdlife. There were cockatoos always on the lawn of the university you could hear Kookaburras. And we even had rainbow lorikeets on our balcony every day. We would feed them honey and they literally would sit on your hand and eat from it. It was amazing.
