Raphael has been neutered yesterday, And came home by 5 pm a little groggy. Not happy with the cone, but he is getting goodies and lots of love. He also had 3 or 4 pustules and the vet said they were abscesses in between his front toes on front foot. I had been treating this one for almost 2 years, and had him to the vet numerous times. He was even on antibiotics for a couple months. It went away and came back. So yesterday it got all cleaned out and corterised. Bandaged up till sunday. I figure cause it is not know what causes it, this will be back. So happy though that the big boy is back and in a couple weeks will be back to regular activity and playing. The vet also biopsied a raised area on his skin , over his testicles. God willing all will be well. Thanks again for all your prayers and good thoughts. raf(Jon)
Lovely that Raphael is back home and hope that biopsy results come back ok. These dogs are such a worry at times.
Thank You all, he is resting, but wants to play, and was told he should not. I cant even remember a neutering that required anything, my last lab was back to his playing the next day, and all was fine. Maybe the extra biopsy to the same area is the difference. Now just have to hope his little toes stay free from thise little interdigital cysts. Daisy, our paralyzed female still fight off uti. Thanks Jon
Thank you all again for your prayers and concern. Raphael is doing well, but he has figured out how he can stand a certain way and stretch is neck, and get past the edge of the collar to lick his foot, and his privates. He can actually only get the edge of the cone against his stitches, but made them red, so on recheck, vet said use neosporin ointment 3/day. Foot looks good, vet said most likely an ingrown hair, and could happen again. Said to soak in epson salts and water and treat with antibiotic drops on foot. If not getting better in 4-5 days , bring him in. Meanwhile our little Daisy, has decided not to eat certain foods, like her dog food. She is on antibiotics for chronic uti's And needs them taken with food. She cries bloody murder when forced a pill. Only 11 lbs , mind you, labs are so much easier. Those little german wieners are tough stuff. Thank God, got the all clear on the biopsy for Raphael. I hope we can take the cone off soon, but he was allowed to run yesterday, since his surgery. He is a happy camper! He is such a big mush. Jon
