I can't believe it, Charlie jumped into the river this morning and swam along with David and Thomas walking on the bank, Charlie kept a close eye on them, they did this on various parts of the walk. Not only did Charlie swim but so did Hattie, they had such a great time I think it's pretty hot so in they went This is very encouraging for our holiday in Scotland. xx
Go Charlie , and Hattie too , no nicer way to cool down when its warm outside and so lovely to see too x
Yay, well done Charlie and Hattie You are going to have a brilliant holiday with so much fun, whoop whoop
Was this Charlie's first swim? (I'm looking for hope that Molly may yet take her feet off the bottom!)
I went to the cinema the other day and saw there were posters for "Finding Dory"!!! I am SO excited about this! "She just kept swimming" Well done Charlie!
Yes it was his first 'proper' swim, he has been in for a paddle but never taken his paws off the bottom but it's deep enough at the moment. He was very graceful apparently, no splashing!! x
Wow really good going, warm weather has got to help it must be lovely and cooling for them.Dexter would push off in a lake but I had to get in the pool with some toys and treats to get him to do it at home ....get your cosi ready for Scotland Helen! X
Hi All. Is there anywhere that they shouldn't swim? We live right by the Leeds Liverpool canal where we walk along most days. I always keep Riley on the lead going along the foot path for fear she might decide to jump in. I don't think Riley really enjoys this warm weather, we always give her drinking water at room temperature but would it be a good idea to put some ice cubes in the bowls to help her cool down?
Some of our lochs are affected by blue-green algae and dogs as well as humans should be kept out of them. I am guessing the canal is reasonably clean? I have no idea about the canal, but generally speaking, a dog needs to get out easily, and I would worry a bit about depth myself. Maybe one of our more local members might know more about the canal. Can't say I have ever put ice in a drinking bowl, but I have made frozen lolly-pops for Lilly with fishy mushy food, and some dogs like a big ice-cream container ice cube with toys frozen in it (or food).
As Jacqui's says first priority is the cleanliness of the water followed by ease of getting out of the water. I always run the tap to get cooler water for Juno, but if it is very hot I use water from the fridge for her and the cats
