No book list on a dog forum would be complete without Karen Pryor’s classic “Don’t Shoot theDog”

Nearly thirty years old now, it is still as relevant today as it was when it was published. I think it was the first book I read which explained the principles of behavioural science in a fun way for the person on the street.

it's definitely worth a read - I loved the idea of the "clicker game" playing with friends - but haven't actually tried it yet...

I love this book. It's a great introduction to understanding animal behaviour, and how to use that info to improve your training.
