My 6yr old when running drools excessively within a few minutes. She is in good health and weighs 26.8 kg. Any ideas on this please.

One thing I'd suggest is having her teeth and mouth in general carefully checked. Sometimes a broken or sore tooth or mouth can be associated with excessive drooling. It's odd that it only happens when running though - if it was a teeth thing then you'd expect it to happen anytime.

How much saliva is she producing? Is it coming out in a continuous dribble, or just wet lips? Dogs do use saliva to cool themselves - as you probably know they have no sweat glands over most of their body (only on their paws) so their mouth is an important site for cooling via the evaporation of moisture. I wonder if it's just saliva production for cooling down? Does she pant at the same time or seem hot?

Rachael, Thanks for your reply. Meg was examined 2 weeks ago on her annual medical check up and there are no issues with her teeth or mouth.
I believe that ,having spoken to a local labrador breeder last night, that it may be due to her running around with a training dummy in her mouth.
So I will trial his suggestion to ease off letting her run with the dummy other than when on retrieving .But hopefully others on this forum may advise me re this issues.
