Coco was an absolute star at school yesterday evening. He was the only dog there so we had a 1-to-1. He eventually managed to recall across the barn and through the door past a line of 6 Bonio biscuits and 5 Schmackos - amazing (he struggles to "leave" food in class, much to everyone's amusement). He learned to stop (and sit or down) half way on a recall (without busting his recall) - it was good to have the opportunity to work on this (and learn a way to do it). He did some great work off lead doing heel/sit/heel/down/come - we felt good getting the chance to show our trainer and helper how good he actually is, we have put lots of work in on these, and usually no-one else sees the results. Using a ball for focus was good, but I'm not sure I can build it up on a normal lead walk. A really good session, but it'll be good to see Bub (rescue Lurcher) back as a doggy-distraction. I really am on a high. Coco has repeated his "sit" half way on recall again today, in the garden. So proud of him.
Oh Sue that's wonderful training, Coco has done amazingly well and to pass all that food wow You really have done an amazing job with him xx
I have to remember these triumphs when he's playing up (less and less now)! I think back, every day when getting ready to go out, how dreadful he was, with his leaping an biting, the tears. We've come so far in 8 months. All I have to bother about now is other dogs, and cats....we'll get there.
Well done Sue and Coco, sounds as if you had a great training session. I try to think of our dogs as a work in process, some just need a little more work than others.
Sounds like you had a really great session,it's great when you see all the practice clicking into place x
