Because I have profound hearing loss, I depend on my dogs to bark and let me know if someone is at the door or in the yard. Jasmine has been here only a few days but happily, she is joining the other dogs when they bark to alert me. I do not want to extinguish that behavior, quite the opposite, it is vital to me that they bark and alert me.
However, if I leave the room for a few minutes or she is crated and I go into another room, she starts with a few worried chirps which gradually increase in volume until I return.
I understand that leaving her previous home and her sibling pup is a big change and I'm glad she sees me as an someone to be secure with, but I would like to extinguish this chirping (but not the alert barking). Or do you think the chirping is temporary and after a while when she feels more at home, will it go away on its own?
