Henry is 4 month old now, since we got him at 8 weeks he's not liked cuddles! My other girl labs love them and will lay next and want cuddles etc all the time is this because he's a boy? Not sure as only had girl labs ! He will tolerate cuddling for about 10 seconds then want to go and lay on his own

I think all labs are different. Harley loves cuddles.......she is currently snuggled up to me on the sofa. My next door neighbours lab doesn't like being cuddled - he just lies on their feet.

Hi , I think it's just different personalities. My 5 month old boy still thinks he can fit in my lap for cuddles . And our previous female dog was never a cuddler , she came looking for them when it suited her and never stayed long xx

I think @Sammyboy is right - all dogs are individuals. Belle will not tolerate any cuddling at all, so she never gets any - she comes for ear rubs, head rubs, rump scratches. Coco, on the other hand, is quite a cuddly dog - likes to lie on the floor and have some cuddles. But best for cuddles was our old Lab Scooby, the cuddliest dog I have ever known. He went to the rainbow bridge with a last cuddle from me.

My boy loves cuddles, especially in the morning and night time just before bed. I think dogs, like us, are all different personalities and have individual tastes.

Dexter was very aloof for a long time with us,I understand why after I saw the set up he came from.He really warmed up around 13 months when had quite a bad time with a tail condition and subsequent operation. I slept downstairs on the floor with him for a month while he was recovering and he became much more cuddly then.At 18 months he made it upstairs to our bed and became an absolute cuddle monster,he literally lies with his head on the pillow between us and snuggles in! So whilst I reckon just like, people they are all different...they can change too as they get to know their owners and become more comfortable in their new family x

Dexter isn't a cudler (the other Dexter, lol) but he loves being with me. He loves belly rubs and a rump pat, lying down near me and lately he will sometimes sit or lay on me if I'm on the floor. They're just all different, he's very much like me though when it's sleep time and likes his own space :chuckle:

Neither of my dogs like cuddles :) However, they like to be close to me and sleep in the evenings on their beds by my feet. I am sitting at the dining room table writing this and both are beside me.

I only got cuddles with puppy Oban when he was sleeping. Awake he was all Go, Go, Go, no time for mushy stuff. By about one year old he would lie with his head in my lap while we watched TV and enjoyed snuggles mixed in with wrestles.
