Hi everyone! Missy is now 14 weeks old. About 4 days ago, she woke up with one ear looking totally different from the night before. Then about 5 hours into the day, the other ear fell the same way. Before this, she held her ears very similar to a Labs.

If I massage her ear they'll go back to how they used to be a few days ago for a few minutes. She isn't scratching, pawing or shaking her head, and her ears aren't dirty and don't stink so I do not think there is anything wrong with them.

Missy isn't fully lab, but 50% of her DNA (according to the test) is labrador. The other parts are great pry and border collie. I'm just wondering if anyone elses pup went through a stage like this with the ears? It kind of makes her look sad/scared/anxious! She is not doing it on her own, either, they have been like this 100% of the time since a few days ago.

Her ears just a few days ago, Saturday or Sunday:

And yesterday... totally different. It's like the "back" is pushing inwards and falling down.

She is very pretty with both versions! I'd say they are going to stay that way. Even dogs that end up with very pointy, upright ears have much floppier ears as puppies. I wouldn't think hers will ever be pointy though - they'll stay floppy but sitting out slightly. Probably the Border Collie influence.

Those are lovely photos. She's gorgeous.

Wow, who is the photographer? Those are GREAT shots. :) Great subject too.

In breeds with ears that are supposed to stand up teething is sometimes when they start moving and BC ears can be up or down or partway at finish. I think you are going to have to wait and see. And you must document with more photographs and let us see the ear progress, please.

With the different genetic inputs I don't think it's possible to know how those lovely ears are going to end up. We definitely need more photos though :)

I think Missy's ears are gorgeous, she is gorgeous and you are lucky to have her. Don't worry about it as she continues to grow she will most probably look a little different again. She is stunning and they are fantastic photo's. xx :)

    Beautiful!

Her ears may be on their way to upright! GS pups start of floppy like Labs, then stand up during the first few months :)

    Thank you everyone!

Just in case anyone else searches a topic like this I wanted to say that her ears 'fixed' with a little help from me - I started massaging them every chance I had for a minute or two (she loved it), along the original crease line, in a circular/downward motion. Her ears would go back to normal then revert back to above, it took a few days. They've held shape for several days without intervening now :)

I would have loved her regardless of her ears but it was driving me a bit nuts, lol. She just looked sad/anxious all the time! It looked like when she holds her ears back when something scared her, etc So I'm happy to report they're floppy forward again!

Missys latest trick is wave, and she thinks waving all the time will get treats.
