    This is so unfair! Bell ringing is not in my puppy book. Spill the secret technique!

    Re: Bell Ringing...

    OK here is my technique:-

    1. Hang a cow bell on a price of string on the backdoor handle and one on the outside handle
    2. Have your treats ready
    3. My word was 'TOUCH', when Charlie even looks at the bell say 'TOUCH' - treat
    4. Say 'TOUCH' and Even if he slightly touches it - treat
    5. Say 'TOUCH' and when he rings it - BIG treat and lots of praise

    It seriously took no time at all and now Charlie rings that damn bell all the time to go out and to gain my attention to play ;D Helen x

    Hmm...yeah....I am worried we are making "a rod for our own backs" here.
    Still at the go-and-ring-the-bell-and-you-will-get-a-treat stage rather than anything actually useful ;D

    Ah Jac, did you open the door when she rang the bell?

    Sorry Julie, you must open the door when Charlie achieves any othe the exercises to show him what you want.

    I would make a terrible teacher ::) Helen x

    OK confused Jac, why do you want Lilly to ring a bell? Charlie rings to go outside. Helen x

    Umh - need to ask Sophie that one - just as a trick I think :-\
    I'm not the trick teacher in this house. Think it was a rainy-day project.

    Well, I think it's a neat trick, and would love to hear how Sophie did it when she is next on line.

    I just taught her simply to 'Ring the Bell', next i am planning to teach her to ring it to go outside... Shouldn't be too hard - she is a very smart dog :)

    Our bell is not like a cow bell it is one where you hit the top, i will try and get a video of her doing it :)
