Finally decided after losing our much loved epileptic lab BJ 2 days before Christmas 2014, aged almost 14 - a new little choccy girl will be joining our family 26th June. :inlove: I'll post pics as soon as I take some. She's only 5 weeks at the moment so not ready to leave mum, then I'm away for a week until 25th, and fortunately the breeders are happy to keep her until I'm back. Can't wait.

Thanks for your welcome and for joining in with my excitement. Yes it is quite a while since we had a lab, still got our little cocker Alf, though he is 13 now. We're hoping he will help the pup in her early days, he's such an affectionate and sensible old fella. Little girl will be Molly.

Going to see our little Molly again tomorrow. Will try to get some photos to post. Thing is, there are 2 choccy girls in the litter and they were identical at 5 weeks. The breeders have told me since that they are still identical, not just physically but personalities as well. I'll give them a real searching look tomorrow in an effort to identify Molly. The breeders are keeping one of the girls and say they will wait for us to chose. Any ideas what unusual points we should look out for as identification?

If they're identical then I'd say go for the one that tugs on your heart strings the hardest :)

As for identification - sometimes breeders will put soft little collars on the puppies, with different colours or patterns. If not, then if the puppy yawns look at the pigment pattern in her mouth (it's common to have a kind of patchy pattern of dark and light on the gums and roof of the mouth). Or you might be able to gently lift a lip to look at the gums. You can also ask the breeder how they tell the puppies apart :)

Thanks Rachael, that's useful. I've got some pics of the pup but can't as yet find out how to add photos to this site o_O As soon as I can work it out, I'll put some on.

:) Got there at last. This is Molly aged almost 6 weeks (yes, still with mum) Isn't she gorgeous? A real little poser even at this age.
