My Charlie even cocks his leg to poo - sometimes he gets carried away and does a handstand so he can cock both rear legs to poo....:D

@JulieT, what are you going to do when Betsy comes into season and Charlie is entire?

Well, that's an issue, @Stacia and one I've been worrying about!

Ideally, I'd not spay a bitch until she is 4 or 5, I could live with spaying a bitch at about 2 years old, when she is definitely a mature dog. So what I have to do in the meantime is see whether Charlie is too distressed at living in a house with a locked door between him and a bitch in season. If he is, then this means Charlie will have to go to Cornwall with OH if Betsy is in season. That's not always going to be convenient, so I will have to see how it works out. If I really can't manage, then I'll probably have Betsy spayed, but hope I will be able to manage for a couple of years at least.

I have, of course, been asking everyone who has an entire dog and entire bitch what they do - the answer is usually a locked door! And some boys seem to be able to cope with that ok, others not so much.

    oops! Start again..

We are letting Bramble have one season then spaying, which will hopefully take her to over a year old. It depends on her growth and maturity really. Benson has had a superlorin implant to cover him through this period (scuse the pun!) We found the locked door worked quite well....only it was a locked back door, Benson was in their back garden, about 3 miles away....

I don't know what Charlie will be like. I have generally had no problems with him and since loads of idiots walk bitches in season on Wimbledon Common, I really have met a lot now. He has never roamed etc (he couldn't, anyway, the garden in London has 10ft high walls and he isn't allowed out in the unsecured gardens on his own). He was put out after his second cruciate op, and I did think maybe a bitch in season on the street was involved then (I never found out) but it was hard to tell because he was also still on lots of drugs etc.
