Poor Charlie's bits!!!...that had to hurt a LOT! You are so funny, Julie!!! Your first night is a gem....crossing fingers it continues this way......
Loved the one of her with the stick on the place board Charlie looks very fit a fine example for her to grow into.
She looks very round, and her legs look thick - I take comfort from the fact that Charlie looked like this at her age, even more so if anything so hoping she'll grow to be fit like Charlie. She has a wide rib cage, and it make her look wide (same as Charlie at this age). I don't think she is overweight, although it's hard to judge on an 8 week old puppy. She is seeing the vet tonight, so I'll see what he says (I'm not sure it's easier for vets, to be honest). I can feel her ribs, but even that's hard to tell on such a tiny puppy, I think - I rely on being able to see Charlie's ribs, but I don't think that's appropriate on such a tiny one.
Willow has a very wide rib cage compared to Shadow. When he lays on his side, his top line is flat, whereas hers is round. When she's standing, from the top, she looks really round, but it's just her ribs. It makes me think all the time that the pounds are creeping on, but then I feel her ribs and see her lovely up-tuck from the side and I know she's OK, it's just a different body shape. Betsy does look round, but I wouldn't say she looks fat at all.
They are supposed to have that slight barrel chest, it's good for swimming and a strong front end. Just don't want it overdone, of course.
It's "just puppy fat" No truly, don't most puppies have that roundness, and just like human babies/toddlers, with the right diet they shape up?

Anyway, the vet said she definitely isn't fat, she is 5.6kgs - I think Charlie was at least 1kg heavier at his first vet trip - and definitely not to cut down her food. So....I'll continue as is for a few days anyway. She has a bit of a 'pot belly' shape, but her ribs are pretty evident (by feel). No problems at the vet - OH carried her down in a bag, and she got to experience London. Very noisy motorbikes, and cars etc. She was fine in the vet's - a bit quiet but in no way nervous. Lots of milk bones were handed out (to Charlie too, because everyone agreed he needed extra milkbones on account he was traumatised by having a puppy live with him). So she's met quite a few people now...Dad arrived tonight (to puppy sit, even though I've got the week off work and don't actually need him to puppy sit ) - he gave her a test, she wagged her tail and licked his ears so he confirmed she was a proper Labrador and had come with inbuilt waggy tail and ear licks.
I bet your dad is thrilled that he has another puppy to lead astray. Oh, oh, Lucy is going to have to make a yellow toy for him now!! You don't have anything else to do right now, do you @Lucy ??
