Re: 11 year old lab is aggressive Hello everyone. I know it has been a while since I was last on here. Marlin is doing great on his meds for his pain in the hips and the aggression is gone. Now I have another problem. We just moves a week ago to another city and Marlin is having a hard time. He is eating well cleans his bowl and drinks plenty of water. The first 2 days in the new house we left him for about an hour and he was fine. the next 2 days we left him for over 3 hours and both times he pooped all ovber the house runny poop everywhere. He seems alittle sad and is constantly at my feet when I am home. We took him to the vet who I will not be taking him back too and they put him on some anti-diarriah med and deworming him even though he has no worms in the test that they gave to him. He said he could still have worms even though the test was negative doesnt sound right to me.They also put him on some gastro intestinal can food for his belly. Took him to the vet on Thursday agternoon and I havent seen him poop at all since then. He has not pooped in the house but it could be because my daughter is visiting and she brought her dog so they are together when we are gone. You all have so much good advice I need some more. Has anyone dealt with this situation please give me advice. I am seriously thinking about stopping the meds the doctor put him on. Thank you all so much. much love from Marlin and I
Re: 11 year old lab is aggressive Sorry you are having problems I don't have much expertise on this but sounds like he could maybe be anxious about all the changes. Do you think that he was more settled maybe having a companion in the house when you were away? Not quite sure how to solve this though - maybe using a crate or a small "safe space" for him to stay in then you are away??? Maybe leaving an item of your clothing with him too to increase his security? I hope someone else might be able to come on and help more.
Re: 11 year old lab is aggressive I agree that the move may have upset his stomach... Sounds silly, but when we brought our dog over to the UK to visit from Germany, the next day she had TERRIBLE diahorea... Cleared up very quickly. I hope Merlin is sorted out soon. Find a vet you like and trust - that's very important, especially with an older dog!
Re: 11 year old lab is aggressive Marlin is doing much better in our new home. I think it was just stress causing him to potty in the house. I will be looking for a vet that doesnt want to take me for my money and who cares about his patients. Thanks and I will be talking to everyone soon.
