Please help! My golden lab has just turned 6 months old (DOB 25/1/16) and for the last month or 6 weeks, he has been weeing on every member of the family when they return home from work or we are playing with him. He is not left alone all day. I work from home so he is not isolated for more than a couple of hours per day, and has free access to a back garden where he is free to do his business. I first thought it was excitable peeing, but notice that he still does it immediately after peeing out in the garden suggesting that perhaps he is marking us? Any advice would be so appreciated as he is doing it on me as well as visitors now!
It's probably still excited peeing even though he's had a wee outside. It amazes me how frequently my boys pee. Because it's when people come in or when they're playing with him it does sound like over excitement
Is he just starting to tri-pawed pee? My theory is you have to train the boys twice. First on horizontal surfaces - grass yes, carpet no. Second on vertical surfaces - trees yes, people and furniture legs no. The first time Oban pee'd on a person it was my friend at an all breed dog show. Worse, she was the agility judge and we were there for our CGC test. Anyway, her theory was that the grounds and grass were covered in pee and it had splashed on her legs and made her smell peeable. She said Oban missed her but not to worry, lots more dogs would try to pee on or beside her before the day was out.
