The breeder we're looking at buying a yellow lab from has some puppies available at the end of August so we're going to look at them next weekend. I'm going to speak to the breeder tonight to arrange a time. Their location is an hour and a half away so a bit of a journey but confident about the breeder. We're taking the children with us too. So we could well have a puppy at the end of the month! I feel we may be crazy what with my 5 and 3 year old, but no crazier than if we were to have a third child (which we're not!) :) I like a challenge. My son is very excited. My youngest doesn't understand yet but she likes dogs. I'm going to need something to do when my 3 year old starts preschool 4 mornings in September so will be nice to have the time to train the puppy. Hopefully will get some pictures next weekend as we will also be 'meeting the parents'.

We met the litter when they were 5 weeks, it was lovely! Doesn't prepare you one jot for the reality of having a puppy, but it was great to chat to the breeder and meet her adult dogs :)

    Very exciting :)
Have you read the Happy Puppy Book? If not, I would highly recommend it.

Haha I can imagine. I said to him that I'm not getting a puppy unless he reads the books as well. He'd be quite happy to go into it all with his head in the sand
