Betsy (amusingly - and slightly scarily given it is Charlie we are talking about) copies Charlie a lot. She will be in her crate in the TV room, and Charlie will decide (it's 9pm) and time for his last wee walk round the block. He gets up, and scratches his shoulder - Betsy watches him, and scratches her shoulder - and then he wanders to the sofa to get his slaves up to do their duty..... No-one can tell me she didn't learn to open her pen from watching Charlie. He opens it by flicking his tongue up around the clasp to undo it. He figured this out by about 6 months, she can now do it at 3.5 months... He has also shown her: How to nick the blackberries and raspberries, although she is still working on the technique of bending the summer raspberry canes down with her paw to get the high up ones. That you can reach the beans through the trellis at the very end of the dog toilet at the back of the veg garden. You can nick OH's slippers that he thinks are out of the way on top of the key box if you stand on the hall chair. He has yet to teach her anything useful. Although she has learned that if she leaves her not quite finished kong in her crate or pen when she leaves, Charlie will nick it. So she carried her kong in her mouth to have a pee tonight....
I was lucky Doug was mostly a force for good. He taught the other two lots of things and could still make us laugh At the tricks he would play on the younger dogs. Always with a grin as he pushed someone's buttons and yet again got his own way. He really enjoyed frustrating Rory
Ohhhhhhhhhhh yes, my pups learn lots from Tatze. Mostly good stuff but she's a terrible jumper up indoors and I have to work extra hard on them not copying that trait. She eats things too. Only certain textures (leads, harnesses, rope stuff like that) but I'd hate the pups to learn that trick! As she get older she's becoming a steady influence for them, it's a joy to see Big Bruce and Tatze playing together ..
Betsy is a terrible counter surfer already! And she has never managed to nick anything from a counter! She is just a counter surfer. I suspect Charlie is to blame for that too!
You never know your luck its always worth a try thats been the motto of every pup I've ever had. Betsy is such fun, but already she seems very knowing and clever
Hahaha! Just wait until Betsy is around 6 months old... then the fun really starts! Bramble is not really a counter surfer, but I caught her with 2 tea towels in her mouth yesterday..looking a bit uncertain...Benson in the background I swear he was grinning...hmmmmm....
