i have a 12 week old black labby had him since he was 5weeksand 5 days old as thw mum could not feed them so breeder let them go early, im worried he is bad, he is very aggressive i no pups bit at you bet he keeps going for your face!, when we try and tell him no he gets worse then starts barking and snapping at you, then he pees in the house, as i have had him 5 weeks already his toilet training is great other than when his told off or put in another room for time out any advice pls
Hello and welcome to the forum. Your puppy is perfectly normal, not aggressive in the slightest. Don't worry about that. Your breeder, however, did a very bad thing letting the puppies go too soon. Even if the mum had stopped feeding them (many puppies are weaned at around 6 weeks), they should never leave this soon for many reasons, one of which is precisely what you're dealing with now. The mum isn't just a feeding station, she teaches them many life lessons, one of which is bite inhibition. Even with her lessons, Labrador puppies are what we affectionately call "crocopups". Without the continued guidance of the mum and siblings.... well ... poor you! Still, the damage is done and there's nothing to be done about that now. So, you just have to get on teaching him yourself. My puppy stayed with him Mom for 8 weeks and he bites just like your puppy does, or did til he was about 4 months old. He had no bite inhibition and it isn't much now but it is much better. I posted here too saying I had an evil puppy. He can still be evil at 6 months but that crazy biting is a phase. Really the thing that worked best for me was, to be VERY watchful. You will start recognizing the signs that he is getting ready to start biting, get up and leave him. Don't touch him, don't stay, don't interact, just go. Even for just a minute. Now at 6 months I am seeing biting rev up again but I have hope it is a phase and it not like what my puppy did at 2 to 4 months. Hang in there, wear long sleeves, and try to anticipate when it is coming.
