Hi all. I have noticed recently that Guinness is going for a poo every few minutes when I take him for a walk and that the poo is very loose. At home when he goes, it is normal consistency and only about twice a day but as soon as we are out walking, the same thing happens. I have two theories. One is that he is anxious during our training sessions on a walk, causing the problem. The second is that the problem is caused by him drinking water from puddles or the river when he is swimming in it. Has anyone else got the same issue or any advice as to what might be causing it? Thanks Tom
Re: Going to the loo a lot during a walk Hi Tom , its odd that this is only when out and about, but if I were you , I would err to caution and let your Vet have a look at him, just in case its a tummy bug . If it isnt, then you can start to look at alternatives like anxiety, but Vets first for peace of mind .
Re: Going to the loo a lot during a walk If he is in and out of water a lot on your walks then I wouldn't worry too much. All of mine do this, something to do with the excitement levels going up a few notches which tends to make them a bit loose
Re: Going to the loo a lot during a walk Chip also gets 'loose' when he's been swimming - I've noticed in some rivers/ponds worse than others. If he's over excited and therefore laps at the water or if the water is very cold & he dives straight in then it can bother him.
Re: Going to the loo a lot during a walk I see a change along these lines in riley if he's very excited or if he gets stressed. Both cause looser poos which also increase in frequency to a degree.
Re: Going to the loo a lot during a walk All these sound familar, I feel re-assured, thankyou. If I get overly concerned, I will take him to the vets. Tom
