Hello all, This is not a 'problem' behaviour at all but I am intrigued to know if anyone else's labrador does this... Pepper (16 months old, lunatic but quite calm in the house these days), will put her paw up when you are stroking her, especially when she is in a sit position. Her leg sort of flails around, and if you hold her paw with your hand when she does this, she'll happily stay like that for quite a while. I think of it as affectionate behaviour but am just interested if anyone has any ideas what is happening in her doggie mind? Thanks
Molly does this with my OH every morning. He's an earlier riser than I am so when we go downstairs she goes straight to him and sits with her back to him and lifts her paw so he can hold it with one hand and rub her tummy with the other - while whispering sweet nothings in her ear. I just get a 'Hi'.
Moo is a pet name for Midge, right? I wondered why you call her that, just because it's one of my pet names for Willow, too. That comes from her being a "monkey moo". Shadow is "Noo", from "nibbly noo". Moo and Noo. Doesn't get confusing at all.
Haha, we have so many stupid names for Pepper. Probably the most used is Beastie and Piggle wiggle (she makes noises like a pig when she sniffs). Poor dog must be so confused... maybe that's what all the leg waving is about really
Harley does it a lot too, especially if she wants tummy rubs. If she's led on the sofa snuggled up to me and my hand is on my lap or on the sofa she will put her paw on top of my hand
'Hand holding' and leaning are just about the only type of physical contact Ripple instigates - he is not a cuddly boy at all .
Luffy exhibits the same behavior: he'll get up on his back legs and offer up two of his paws. With his paws being held, he'll remain in this pose with bizarre contented expression splayed across his face. Never could figure out whether to take this as sign of affection or him telling me that something was troubling him!
Milo loves his tummy tickled and will hold up a paw so we can reach or roll on his back. He often sleeps on the sofa on his back with legs in the air, everything on show! He also gives what we call "labrador hugs" where he puts his paws round you as you sit on the sofa. I was on the downstairs loo the other day when he bustled in and did it! He also has started putting his front on the sofa next to us so we stroke him.
