Ella is a very active sleeper! She runs, snarls, bares her teeth, barks, eats and wags her tail!

    It's usually very amusing :D

Snowie once howled in his sleep when he was very young, under a year. It was very eerie! My husband and I both sat up in bed and said, "What was that??" We assumed he was mimicking his Malamute girlfriends up the road -- they howl a lot. He makes very creative vocal sounds when awake and asleep, but never howled again.

Our puppy did the same yesterday...I heard the most unearthly howl-bark, ran downstairs because I'd never heard anything like it. Our other dog was standing there staring at him too with a "what on earth" look on her face lol

Ever since I saw this thread I have wondered if Axel will ever do this. Last night he sure did!! Woke the husband and I both up in a panic, and the howl felt so long too. We didn't wake him up, at least not on purpose. But that was it, just one long, incredibly loud and creepy howl.

Well here's something new in the past week or so...pup has been making squealing and yelping noises like he's in pain! He'll suddenly start at the top of his lungs, akin to the sound if you accidentally step on a paw, but it will go on for 10-15 seconds while we rush over to make sure he's alright. He wakes up, and rolls over and goes back to sleep  Nightmares? I've never had a dog do this before! What on earth is he dreaming about :(
