@JulieT - great info on walking without pulling/loose lead walking. I also tried the front-fastening on Bessie and did not like its effect on her gait, and she just seemed to sort of trip over the lead/her front feet. I do appreciate being able to clip to both front and back for the grownup doggy in a pinch, if I need more control. As for hating harnesses - Burke has always loved wearing one, ha. No idea why, but he'll stand there so patiently and even let me adjust them while on him. His tail wags when he sees his! (Probably also because it means going out.) Bessie not so much, but I did a lot of treating during the process of putting one on and that helped a lot. Just positive reinforcement for each step like you'd do with any other thing like nail clipping. So holding open where they put their head through and putting a treat on the other side so they put their head through to get to it, and just with each buckle, they get a treat, that kind of thing. She now doesn't mind it so much and doesn't twist around like crazy trying to avoid getting it on like she did at the beginning.
