It's me again. Feel like i'm spamming this forum at the moment. My 4 and half month old lab has started barking at the front door. Sometimes if no one is there (i'm guessing he hears outside noise) If people come over or the front door opens ( even if it's me) he starts barking and growling also. He does stop once he sees me. However my brother, dad and anyone who is not over a lot he will bark and growl at them the whole time they are over at mine.

It's actually quite scary and scares my kids. I was wondering if this is a normal puppy thing? I don't have anyone in my family or friends that own dogs so just want a bit of reassurance. Thank you

Hey, Yes it sounds normal to me, I would try training for qiuet by clicking and treating when he is quiet, even if he is near the front door and just being quite. Then get people to nock at the door and click even for 1 second of him sitting or being quiet, work up from there.

Good luck, and dont feel like your spamming! Its better to ask than feel alone or rack your brain!

He's only a baby so it's likely to be excitement and an inept way of getting them to play.

Ask them to completely ignore him - no eye contact even - 'till he's quiet then, immediately, play with him as soon as he is.

This is a link to a kikopup video called 'stop barking at the door'. It does require you to have an assistant to train it which I know can be tricky.
