Could this be the start of her first season?

Well she's definitely in season now! Blood started yesterday. Got her some big girl pants to wear at home and she seems to like them. Kept them on all night! Went for a pavement walk in the evening yesterday. All was well until she saw a black lab on the other side of the road. They were both desperate to get to each other. The lady crossed over so they could say hello. BIG mistake. It was a 19 month old boy and he hadn't been done. OMG they spun round so fast. Their leads got tangled. Suddenly my dog had no lead on OR harness on. Luckily I grabbed her collar. It was so stressful. When I got home I realised I had a huge bruise on my leg from the scuffle!

Do many owners honestly just randomly cross the road "to say hello"? I can think of a situation where I might (a dog wearing a particularly fetching outfit) but I'm more likely to cross the road to avoid a dog than to greet one.

When Axel was a puppy, yes, all the time people would cross the road to let the dogs meet and of course to get their puppy cuddles in. Now that Axel is older people cross the street to avoid uso_O Makes for a more peaceful walk though:D

Oh goodness poor you. Before getting anywhere near any other dogs I always call out is ask if their dog is ok with others if the answer is no then I cross the road or turn around. Hope your leg is not too painful

    Gosh, what a stressful walk!
Glad you managed to avert any unfortunate "accidents".
