It's Camphylobacter!

The vet just phoned with Libby's sample result and she tested positive for camphylobacter! No idea where it came from but she goes on the right antibiotics tomorrow. Hopefully this will mend her poorly tummy.

 

That's great you have the bug identified. Fingers crossed for a quick recovery now.

 

Great to get an answer - should be easily treated with antibiotics - phew!
Pretty common (think its found frequently in cows, sheep, poultry) but also bear in mind one of the commonest cause in humans is from infected puppies so make sure you take care of yourself and have strict hand-washing etc.

 

Must be a relief to have an answer at last. Hope she starts to get well properly now.

Oh gosh how nasty, poor wee girl. You take care of yourselves too, campylobacter is an awful illness.

 

We had this too. We weren't allowed to socialize for 2 weeks and it was just as she was allowed out. Hope the antibiotics clear it up quickly x

 

I haven't been told this! It makes sense not to spread it of course so should I keep her in?

I would say do what you feels right. I personally think it was a bit overkill as they told me it is only spread by poo contact. I would be interested to know what others say.

I would walk her on the beach and scoop up a pile of sand along with all poo. I kept her away from dogs by picking her up but she was only small then.

 

How's she doing now ?
