Magic moment this afternoon. We were sat down at the airport (watching NOT spotting planes!) when a female Hen Harrier flew in front of us, just the other side of the fence - I was awestruck, it was so close. It flew past again a little later. But that wasn't the end of it, a few minutes later, a crow was hassling and chasing a bird across the runway, they came into view - it was a male Hen Harrier. After a short while we saw it hunting low across the scrubby grass. Hen Harriers are upland birds during the summer months, they come down to the coast in the winter, the airport is right by the sea. These birds are SO rare, we were so lucky.

Had to Google for an image - beautiful birds. It's always special to see hawks hunting.
