Yeah, good idea - been thinking of trying some of this! http://musherssecret.net/

Something just tells me that 15-week-old George is not going to be cool with booties....

That stuff looks good! We have something similar, but that looks better. I have to pull out the one we have and see if it works (we just carried her last winter).

Musher's Secret is good. I use it on my dogs' paws in the winter. It helps create a barrier against the salt which seems to cause the discomfort, rather than the cold.

I used a Pawz rubber boot on Willow for the first time the other day (to protect her bandage) and thought she'd have histrionics, but she really wasn't that fussed after a quick shake. It might be worth a try if the MS doesn't work - they're lighter than most of the dog "walking" boots you see around, not to mention cheaper. The only reservation I'd have is how much grip they afford. Probably not a problem in snow, but if it's icy, then you'd have to watch out. But, if you decide boots are the way to go, it might also be a halfway house for getting the pup used to things on his feet.

Oh, good to know your dog didn't mind the rubber booties! We'll see how it goes - thanks! I think the BEST solution would be for people to GO EASY ON THE SALT!?!?! Jeeze, there are PILES of it everywhere we go...

Yep, We got a jacket for Corona also, a couple of days ago. It's more like a horse blanket than a sweater. She doesn't mind it one bit. We are also under a cold advisory here in Windsor, Ontario. Even with a jacket, it's only recommended to be out for no more than 20 minutes. Haven't seen any other big dogs with a jacket yet, plenty of small ones, but if she gets made fun of, I will use the excuse that she is still a puppy

We have Dr. Maggie's Paw Protector http://drmaggie.ca/products/paw-protector/

I tried it out this morning and it seemed to help, but still lifting her back paw on the way home on the salted sidewalk...but definitely better than before. I'm going to put more on tonight (I probably went a little light on the amount).

Hah, talk about sweaters, I could have used a doggie rainsuit here the other day, not for rain though. My sister's English Shepherd is here this week and on Monday, with fresh, heavy, wet, packing snow she came home just covered with snowballs. I broke some off but had to leave her shut in the kitchen where she did a good job of biting the most of them off herself. She was a good girl, lay on a towel to do it and all I had to do was dump the towel outside. Bonnie has a coat like a Rough Collie.

Brogan had these, from Ruff Wear (pic from Ruff Wear) - they have a Vibram sole like better human hiking boots. I researched them beforehand and learned that the US military was using them in the desert for extreme high temps. They can be used without socks (I know, doggie socks - heh, heh) but I liked them better with the socks. Never chafed, never fell off. The funny thing was that if I used them only on one foot or two feet (I did this to protect his back feet because he dragged them as he got older from his spondylosis), he was TOTALLY fine with them. When I tried all four feet, he walked SO strangely. He didn't seem to mind them - as in didn't try to get them off - but he just walked like he was goose-stepping/doing the cha cha! o_O

I use some protex pawz for the salty roads round here.they don't last like boots but they are really useful to have in my small medical kit. they are just little rubber slip on socks . They are great for cracked pads. They were great for Doug when his paws were badly in fected when his SLO was bad.

Interesting! I just assumed it based on the breed name. And you know what they say about assuming!

Who wouldn't fall in love with these big lugs! So I wasn't assuming the wrong thing then. I'm not sure many people outside of Canada have even heard of our Labrador province, so I figured the breed had to have been from there.
