    hi

So hoping to get a female lab (not opposed to a male though just my daughter has her heart set on the name Maddie!) in March / April. I'm timing it so I'm off sick following a surgery when I get the puppy as I'm planning to use doggy daycare for 2 or 3 days a week. I work 3 days but going to try and negotiate a day working at home to reduce cost. So I'll be off work until puppy had full set of injections and can start but what happens when puppy has first season? Will it have to stay away until it's over? What age is best to have them neutered? I'm just trying to work out if I'll have problems as can't take a month off work when I am already having 3/4 months off for surgery.

When I've looked at local day care it just says dogs must be neutered unless puppies.

Our daycare was fine having Tatze when she had her first season, she was neutered three months after her first season which - in my view - is the best time to have it done.

    I would ask them.

Ask them...or maybe look at a combo of dogwalker/daycare. Our dogwalker has agreed to use our paddock when Bramble comes into season, she would've been happy to walk locally (on lead) as well. Bramble is not allowed to go to their normal centre for walks as they also do daycare there and train agility and obedience.

Thank you both. I haven't got a daycare sorted as yet as I haven't got a definite date for puppy. Emailed a few breeders and got a few replies but not 100% sure of timing as having a surgery and was planning end of March but now I'm thinking it's probably too soon as it's a major surgery but one I emailed has a litter due April so that might work - be end of May / early June I guess depending when they'd be due in April. So I can't really sort out the day care until I have a timescale. I did message a couple a month or so ago to find out if they had waiting lists so I could ask them about that. Guess it might be easier getting a male but I'd still need to have him do as they require it at the day care once no longer a puppy. Thanks for the advice x
