Puzzle had her first walk today, it went really well, she did pull a little bit but not much. She was so inquisitive of everything, having a good sniff. She sat very nicely at the curbs when asked and when walking, we did not bump into any people or dogs so that is a bonus for now, tommorow she will be let of lead for the first time in a secure area so we will see how that goes
Re: First walk It sounds like puzzle is a natural Good luck with taking puzzle of the lead, let us know how you get on.
Re: First walk Sounds like a lovely first walk Anabelle ,well done....hope off lead goes well today x
Re: First walk Her first taste of freedom went very well, it seems like she has read a manual on how to behave on walks because she is being so good, except the part of when you return home from a walk you should be tired, she ignores this and wants to play. We done some recalls in an enclosed area (disused tennis court) of calling her name then whistling when she is hurtling towards us at 100mph, it did not taker her long to get the hand of running between the two of us for food and cuddles, the walk to the tennis court was good aswell, she does walk better on concrete than on grass but grass is more smelly, she does not walk right beside me but sort of infront of me but still with a loose lead and every time she slows down to be right next to me she got a treat. All is going well so far, not that it will continue, we have yet to meet another dog out on our walks, i think then all hell will break loose, but we will wait and see when that happens
Re: First walk Wow,all gone really ,well done ,clever Puzzle ,clever Annabelle she will love being rewarded and will learn quickly if she gets a treat everytime she comes into position ......can't wait to hear your tales about when she starts making friends with other pooches, hope she meets some nice ones and has some great doggie pumps before she returns obediently to your side keep up the good work, she is a lovely puppy x
Re: First walk She is doing super well on her walks, she is only on 1 walk a day at the moment, and it is between 15 and 20 mins long, but from next week she will be having 2 walks a day but same length for each of them. She is learning to sit at the curb with no prompts of hints, she is picking it up really well, her lead walking has been improving with every walk, she is starting to walk really nice for about 90% of her walks, the other 10% is split between the beginning and end of the walk when she is wither exited to be out or exited to be going back home, but we are working on this, when we leave and come back from a walk we get her to sit and wait until we open the door then wait until we call her through then get her to sit and wait until we have shut the door, we don't do this with barley as he is not as exited as she is and will launch out of the front door if she has the chance to as she is sooooo exited to be going out for walkies as it means she gets lots of treats for being good. She is a strange dog with the clicker, she will listen to it when we are outside on a walk or in the garden but completely ignores it when in the house, she will only respond to a different clicker which is louder, the other one is quite but i would have thought that it would have been the other way round, but who cares, as long as she knows that she has done good then i am happy.
Re: First walk She was really good on her walk today ;D None of this is to be told to dad ( he has not got the faith that i have in her or barley) i let her off at the park today, for her first taste of uncontrolled off lead running. She done some brilliant recalls, even a recall away from a spaniel, she was soooooo good, i can't believe how good she is already, i try to put at least 4 training sessions in a week, sometimes more, but it all seems to have payed off ;D, i am so proud of my baby, she is growing up so fast, she is also 12.8kg now, so she has doubled in weight since we got her, and on friday it will have been 6 weeks since we have had her, that time has flown by really quick. Reminder: take more photos!
Re: First walk He He! ;D Well done Annabelle! (and Puzzle of course) We shalln't tell dad......ssshhhhh.......
Re: First walk I am so pleased with her today, i done the same thing again, letting her off lead for a run, not long after we came on the park a husky came on, it was on an extender and it did not look a very friendly dog, puzzle saw it and started to race over to say hello to it, one whistle blow later there is a very happy and pleased looking puppy at my feet waiting for her treat, she got loads of fuss and treats for that, then she decided that it was so much fun to do it again and again and again, but at least we were practicing her recall, then once the husky left a bulldog came to play with her and they had a good romp around then when i had decided that she needed to go home one whistle later she was at my feet again, but this time it was more of a launch at me that sit at my feet, but we are working on her over enthusiastic returns. ;D i am so proud of her. She also proved herself when we got on the park, before i let her off her collar broke , she was pulling ahead anyway :, then it just broke, she ran ahead a little then turned round looked at me and came acing back without me even telling her, she came back by choice when she could have kept running through the park. This meant that on the way home i had to have her lead in a slip lead style :-\, but no need to worry as she was so exhausted from all her romping around that she walked perfectly to heel all the way home, which was excellent.
Re: First walk Great job Annabelle and Puzzle but oh no,was the collar that broke your para cord project? X

X [/quote] No it was a puppy collar we bought for her, but she now has a nice new padded red one. She will get a paracord one when she has stopped growing, which is going to be a while yet
