You have to sleep with Mum and Dad because a sudden change to their routine might not be good for them. But say goodnight to Mumsbrother by taking a flying leap onto his bed (about 10 minutes after he switches off the light is good, they like that), and comfort him that you are still there by repeating 3 or 4 times more until morning. That'll be good for everyone.
Dozing happily on the sofa when she suddenly sticks her fingers in my mouth wouldn't have been so bad if it had been a treat!
There's something very odd about my people. They ALWAYS do their poos indoors. Now, I like a good poo as much as the next dog (they are lovely, aren't they?) but we all know it's just not.....right..... to poo in the house. My hoomans always go into this little room to do it. It always seems to disappear quite quickly. Does anyone else have this problem with their hoomans? Is it something we should worry about? Do we need to do some training, do you think? Pongo xxx
It is odd, isn't it? I usually pop in too to see if I can help in any way - like eating some of the paper that they like to play with in the little room. When the paper runs out, I get to keep the cardboard tube, which is good. I'm not too worried as I think they're happy in there, although sometimes Mum does some loud wailing. This is a bit alarming. She says 'it's only sing-ing', but I usually leave at that point. If anyone has any training tips, I'm happy to try them out. Lottie x
I have a new crate guys. Its really big and i can spread out in it... the only thing is when mum gives me a nice porky roll sometimes it falls through the gaps and i BARK and BARK telling her its fell out but shes too busy cleaning or getting a bath. its so cruel watching my pork roll outside the crate and me inside. Dad come to the rescue tho.
Been a bit Moby Dick, guys - but on the mend now. Short Dumb Blonde has been taking the mick - nicking the cuddle spaces, and my toys. Well, that's all come to an end now I'm back, I can tell you. The most worrying thing though is that I have missed two of my promised special holiday outings. I got a cliff walk with a visit to a new beach on Saturday before I started feeling so bad, but I'm due for Sunday and today. Mum says she's not sure she can make up the outings now because it's difficult to fit in two in a day, in addition to my normal walks. I've told her I won't poo until she agrees. Which means that since I won't poo in the garden anyway (I'm not daft, if you start pooing in the garden, your walks reduce) she has to get up and take me for a walk every time I stand by the front door and whine. She'll crack, soon. Charlie
Charlie, you are brilliant. I wish I was as clever as you. I've got my mum pretty well trained, but you've really taken it to the next level with yours. Respect. What is it really like having a sister? My mum and dad have started saying things like "should we get Pongo a puppy to play with?" and sometimes that sounds like fun but I don't think I'd like to have someone who would nick all my cuddle spaces and attention and toys. And perhaps nick my FOOD too. Is it really that bad? Pongo
Oh, well, you know - I work hard. But thanks, that's good of you to say. It's pretty bad. Just think about it - it's not like I'm short of mates, is it? And you're not either by the sounds of it. We all know a dog has to work hard to get his stuff. I just don't need anyone sharing my Mum, my beds, my toys. And she is pretty much just annoying. Crashing round the place at snooze time, and the biting! Really. It's too much. Charlie
Such an exciting weekend! I've been on a BOAT. I don't think I like it. Dad makes me go in a cage thing in the back of his big truck because he says I'll eat his seats. I won't. I've promised. But still he makes me go in the cage. Is this what you guys call a crate? I don't think it can be, it's dark and lonely. And I'm in it FOREVER, but I do get my own bed which smells nice. The BEST bit is when mum & dad come back & open the door - I go MAD, I cannot contain my joy, I wriggle and lick & squirm. And then I get to sit on the back seat again and stick my head out at everyone passing by. I used to bark at them and the window would shut, so I stopped that and the window stays open, now I try & lick them. People love being licked don't they? - Coco
Oh, Pongo! I know you love your mum and dad lots and lots, so keep making sure you're the most important dog in their lives. A sister can be good company and fun to play with, BUT mine certainly knows how to get attention. You're right about the nicking cuddle spaces and toys! That Tuppy Creature was stretched out on the sofa with mum yesterday evening, so I curled up on a comfy chair but after a while I couldn't bear it any more, so I sneaked off to my crate by the radiator and curled up in the lovely soft bed mum has put in there. I can cuddle my blanky there too, as TTC snatches and chews my soft toys. On the plus side, it's good to have someone to play tuggy games and bitey face with. I do miss playing hunt the toy in the house, though, because TTC takes over when we play that. I usually make sure I win when we play it in the garden! I suppose I have to admit that I love TTC really, though, and I know she loves me. My mum and my family love me lots too and they do try to make sure TTC isn't too annoying. Keep in touch, Pongo. Big sisters have to stick together - and big brothers too, Charlie! Wispa
You DO love me, Wispa, and I love you lots and lots and lots. I just fell asleep by accident on the sofa yesterday... It's great having a big sister, Pongo! You'd love being one! Tuppy
Oh dear, Pongo! I was feeling a bit sleepy this morning... I meant 'big brothers and sisters' ... I got carried away thinking about little sisters! lots of licks, Wispa
I know Pongo would be a big brother really! You just misled me, Wispa, as usual. AND I'm not a LITTLE sister, my head can reach further than yours! Go, Pongo, you need a little sister, just like me! Tuppy
Oh gosh, I don't know. It WOULD be fun to have someone to play with when my hoomans are being boring (which is quite a lot of the time). But I do like being my mum and dad's special boy. I'm not sure I want to share them.... Betsy and Tuppy do sound fun though. Maybe I could borrow one of them for a little while to see what it's like? Pongo
Fred says..... I love my little sister. We have great times together and loads of cuddles of Dad and Mum....just need to watch that she doesn't eat all the treats.
Mum and dad left me at home longer than usual today. They both said the got "stuck" at work but they didn't look sticky when the got home. I felt a bit lonely but mum let me lick her hands (which she doesn't usually allow - maybe still sticky from being stuck at work?) and dad gave me some of his dinner so it wasn't all bad.
